Summary
A warehouse lea is responsible for administrative and clerical tasks within a warehouse, including managing inventory, processing shipments, maintaining accurate records, data entry, and ensuring the warehouse remains organized and clean, often involving tasks like receiving deliveries, picking orders, and preparing goods for shipping while adhering to quality control standards; requiring strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS).
Key responsibilities may include:
Receiving and checking shipments: Unloading deliveries, verifying quantities and condition of incoming goods against invoices, and reporting discrepancies.
Inventory management: Maintaining accurate inventory records by tracking stock levels, performing cycle counts, and updating data in the warehouse management system.
Order picking and packing: Selecting products from shelves to fulfill customer orders, accurately packing items, and preparing orders for shipping.
Shipping and labeling: Generating shipping labels, loading and securing merchandise on trucks, and coordinating with carriers.
Data entry: Recording shipment details, inventory updates, and other relevant information into the computer system.
Quality control: Inspecting products for damage or defects and ensuring quality standards are met.
Warehouse maintenance: Keeping the warehouse clean and organized, including proper storage of products and materials.
Customer service: Addressing customer inquiries related to orders and inventory availability.
Required skills:
- Attention to detail: Essential for accurate inventory management and order processing.
- Basic math skills: To calculate quantities, verify totals, and perform inventory checks.
- Computer proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Organizational skills: Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and maintain a clean workspace.
- Physical stamina: Lifting and moving boxes, pallets, and other materials as needed.
