Description
The Material Handler is expected to fully understand all warehouse processes to proficiently execute Online fulfillment center activities and standard operating procedures. The primary warehouse activities include material receiving, material put-a-way, picking, packing, shipping, and general handling. Additionally, wire cutting, and paralleling can be a work requirement. The material handler is responsible for the proper execution of all duties in a safe and orderly manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accountable for the accuracy of picking, packing, receiving, shipping, wire cutting, and paralleling activities.
Primary Duties:
• Perform all physical requirements necessary to lift and move inventory around the warehouse.
• Operate and maneuver material handling equipment and any material(s) contained thereon in the manner consistent with the intended purpose of the equipment and the manufacturers’ instructions.
• Maintain the warehouse in an orderly and clean state; follow all company safety procedures; perform daily safety inspections (follow LEAN principles).
• Receive incoming material in accordance with WMS processes, accurately identify and break down the material, note discrepancies, and make the product ready for storage. Check merchandise in against receiving ticket.
• Store product in accordance with WMS processes.
• Accurately pick, pack, and check fulfillment orders following designated WMS processes for packing, weighing, manifesting, palletizing, and loading.
• Handle web fulfillment and general fulfillment orders in accordance with established WMS procedures.
• Sort and pack Less Than Truckload (LTL) shipments in accordance with established WMS procedures. Prepare bills of lading for shipment.
• Conduct cycle counts and bin location verifications; consolidate inventory as needed; follow established WMS procedures for handling stock discrepancies.
• Stay abreast of current and new products and the location of the inventory within the facility.
• Load and unload trucks and trailers by hand or by use of a hand truck or dolly.
• Prepare return tickets or warranty materials and record damage of defective material.
• Report out-of-stock items to warehouse supervisor, distribution center manager, or group purchasing manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of experience preferred: prior warehouse experience preferred.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements necessary to receive, pick, pack, ship, and move materials throughout the warehouse, including, but not limited to, standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, climbing ladders, cutting wire, paralleling wire, installing wire pulling heads, and lifting materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to operate and maneuver warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts, pickers, reach trucks, push carts, and wire cutting, paralleling, and pulling head installation machines, in the manner necessary to move materials and consistent with manufacturers’ instructions and safety instructions.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including the ability to perform physical requirements, adapt to seasonal changes.
